The View Beyond

The View Beyond is part of my ongoing Imagined Landscapes series. A  collection of intuitive landscapes that are not intended to represent a specific place, but emerge through memory, feeling, colour and mark-making.

The painting was inspired by the experience of reaching the end of a long bush walk and suddenly being met by an expansive view. Standing high among the rocks, the scene beyond created an immediate sense of wonder, a moment to pause, take a breath and simply take in what was in front of me.

In The View Beyond, large foreground boulders lead the eye towards the water and distant landscape, while soft lavender, pink and muted greens create a sense of openness and atmosphere.

For me, these imagined environments are places of visual escape, landscapes shaped by the feeling of being in nature rather than by a particular location. They invite the viewer to pause, look beyond the everyday and find their own sense of stillness within the painting.
