Into the Quiet

Into the Quiet is part of my ongoing series of imagined landscapes.  Places that are not intended to represent a particular location, but emerge intuitively through colour, mark-making and layers of paint.

The series began from my experiences of being in nature and the sense of stillness that can come from stepping away from the everyday. I became interested in creating my own imagined environments, spaces that exist somewhere between memory, feeling and imagination.

In Into the Quiet, colour, texture and gestural marks work together to create a sense of atmosphere and depth. The landscape is deliberately open to interpretation, inviting the viewer to pause and find their own way into it.

For me, these paintings are about creating a visual refuge, a place to slow down, breathe and simply be.
