Serenity Bay

Serenity Bay is part of an ongoing series of imagined landscapes that grew from my experience of walking through the bushland surrounding Sydney Harbour.

Rather than depicting a specific place, I am interested in creating landscapes that exist somewhere between memory, imagination and feeling. The series explores my deep connection to nature and my ongoing search for places that evoke calm, stillness and a sense of emotional and physical safety.

In Serenity Bay, the landscape opens into a quiet expanse of water beneath a softly coloured sky. Warm earthy tones move through the foreground and shoreline, contrasted with the cool greens and delicate pinks of the surrounding landscape and clouds. The result is a place that feels familiar yet imagined, inviting the eye to wander into the distance.

I use the rich, buttery qualities of oil paint to build atmosphere and movement within these landscapes. Layers of colour allow the surface to remain tactile while creating a sense of softness and depth.

For me, these paintings are a form of visual escape. They offer an imagined place to pause, breathe and linger for a while.

Serenity Bay is an invitation to bring that feeling into your own space. A quiet landscape to return to, where colour, nature and imagination come together to create a sense of calm and possibility.
