Twilight Coral

A meditation gifted me the inspiration for this piece.  Compelled to transpose my feelings onto this canvas I began building layers generating an abstract sense of subtle movement within water and sky. 

Slow and peaceful movements dominated the application of my mark-marking in this artwork. Subdued, soft, almost cloud-like markings emerged to contrast dramatically against bold, lineal, sharp edged forms.  Similarly, I toyed with colour temperature marrying swathes of warm hues with cool blues.

I remain undecided whether I’m gazing into a far-reaching galaxy or staring up through a coral reef to the starry sky beyond.  What’s your interpretation?
