The Absence of Green

This artwork was an exploration of colour. Recently I found an alphabet stencil in a forgotten draw which I used to cover this canvas and explore this limited palette. I felt such a fabulous sense of freedom and found myself feeling uplifted. My husband popped into the studio and remarked that he had just seen a video by a colourist who described that purple doesn't actually exist.  He explained that it is actually the absence of green which makes the brain form a colour thats been understoood as purple.  Well that was quite the learning as for me there is certainly purple in my palette.
